Fed up with the waste, negg is going plastic-free

30 Dec 2019

It is an estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic waste being dumped in the world’s oceans each year, and we are all responsible. Luckily the world is experiencing a new awareness. Government officials and private citizens say it is high time to acknowledge the problem and change wasteful behavior.

In this vein, negg’s management has decided to embrace a new approach in order to reduce plastic waste and consumption, hoping both as a look forward and an inspiration for others to act. The first measure  introduced aims at removing all disposable bottles and cups from negg's offices. Because of this, negg’s management has given, as Christmas presents for all the staff, reusable metal bottles and ceramic cups to replace plastic disposables in office kitchens.

“We provided our staff with reusable bottles and cups so they can refill both and avoid plastic disposables", says Francesco Taccone, CEO of negg, "We don’t believe in forcing anything on anyone, but in negg we aim to do what’s best and adopt the right approach to a problem involving the whole world. In this light, we encourage our people to adopt innovative and responsible practices. We aim at becoming a completely plastic-free company in the foreseeable future”.
